Well what a jam packed month of racing we have had in February, with HTC members doing us proud at the inaugural IM70.3 in Tasmania, 2XU Race 4 @ Sandringham and the 4km Pier to Perignon ocean swim.
IM70.3 Tasmania
Many club members headed to Tasi for the Inaugural IM70.3 event. After some appalling weather the day prior, Tasmania put on a stunner for the main event. The course was spectacular, and due to the rolling start many club members started the swim together. The bike course was pretty technical with lots of turns and tricky terrain to navigate in the first and last 10kms, but the main two loops were absolutely stunning! The many turnaround points throughout the bike and run made it great for spotting and cheering on fellow club members. Everyone had a great time and this event will likely become a favourite on the HTC calendar.
2XU Race 4 @ Sandringham
The club was out in force on the 12th February at Race 4 of the 2XU Triathlon series in Sandringham. Congratulations to all members who competed and finished in challenging conditions with smiles on their dials, and for cheering on your fellow HTCers in true club spirit. You all all awesome! Also congrats on the many podium finishes in both distances and for those that secured the all important world champs qualifying points for the Standard Distance race. Go HTC!
There are two more races to go in the 2XU series at Elwood and St Kilda
Pier to Perignon
Then on the 18th Feb Kaz, Sam and Adam headed to Sorrento for the epic 4km Ocean Swim – Pier to Perignon. With much more pleasant conditions than last year all 3 had a great swim and made the most of the favourable current. Well done team1.
Upcoming Events
With Peaks Challenge cancelled, upcoming events include the last two 2XU races in March, IM Port Macquarie on 7th May and IM Cairns on 18th June. Goodluck to all members training for these events.
Training
Great to see our squad sessions packed with members bursting out of the lanes. Don’t forget to keep your eye on the club facebook page for details of open water swims as well.
Thursday Velo sessions and Saturday Beach Road / Hills rides continue to thrive, as does attendance at the all important coffee / breaky afterwards.
Run sessions with JB and Deeks are also well attended. Check in on the HTC website if you are looking for some more training sessions to join.
Welcome to all of our new members, and welcome back Morley’s and TC
A warm welcome to our new members Harry, Andrew, James, Anthony, Belinda, Richard, Kirsten and William. It’s great to have you in the club.
It was also great to welcome back our beloved Dave and Dawn Morely and Tracy Carter (TC). We enjoyed many training sessions and celebrations over the 3 week return!
